Unlike many money pits on a bike this one is a Biggie in payoff. If so they were subject to the recall and replaced with s700s. (Edit - I believe there were some SRAM red 10 speed hydro shifters. 2x and 10 speed you need to track down used or NOS S-700, If you're 11 speed and 2x then Rival is your first entry point. If you're 1x and 10 speed then apex is cheap and the shifters work beautifully. I'd happily run Rival or Force but my wheels are in the 10 speed ghetto on that bike.
They are very similar to the current 11 speed shifters although with the prevalence of 1x the 2x are harder to find. I'm a big fan of SRAM shifters so wanted to stick with those but the only options at the time were either SRAM red or s700 and I was lucky enough to find the s700 levers for sale barely used in a big bundle of gear on eBay (and convinced the seller to split). They were a lot more expensive a few years ago, prices have settled down now! I found happiness with SRAM s700 levers. SRAM shifters are a personal taste thing. I was never a fan of the hy/rd - they always seemed to have no lever feel but maybe that's just me. Make this subreddit a better place by voting and participating in the new section.
